Community Support

Geographe catchment council

Arbor Guy partnered with GeoCatch to help preserve the Western Ringtail Possum population by offering and installing possum boxes free of charge. Arbor Guy kick-started this programme in 2017 by installing two boxes in peppermint trees at Vasse Primary School in front of an audience of eager students. Since then over thirty possum boxes have been installed at various locations around the Capes region, including an additional four schools. During the school visits Arbor Guy’s Arborists talked about the importance of preserving trees, as well as demonstrating some climbing techniques in hope of inspiring more young climbers. Arbor Guy hopes the new partnership will help preserve possum populations in the South West.

TREE DATA COLLECTION ON CHAMPION TREES THROUGHOUT NATIONAL PARKS

THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND WILDLIFE PROVIDER [SOUTH WEST REGION]

Arbor Guy sets aside 5 days annually to visit National Park forests with staff and industry colleagues to locate stand-out trees that hold significant value to the Parks. The tree data is recorded with information such as tree species, exact height, canopy spreads, diameter, location and general condition. This information is the correlated and supplied to the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions as complimentary data for their records.

In 2012 Arbor Guy also teamed up with Australian Geographic to do a story on the giant trees to gain global recognition and help ensure their protection.
